Motorola RAZR i : the best Intel-powered smartphone yet

Published

on

Motorola’s latest iteration of the RAZR smartphone family has resulted in the Motorola RAZR i that is slightly different from all of the other RAZR devices in the market, where apart from the beautiful edge-to-edge display, you also get the “Intel Inside” treatment with this full screen smartphone. The 4.3” Super AMOLED Advanced display would definitely be the star of the show here, where your eyes will virtually see no bezel at all, meaning more viewing area and less phone. Not only that, the Motorola RAZR i claims to be the first smartphone in the market which hits the 2.0GHz speed mark courtesy of a speedy Intel Atom processor underneath the hood (Intel already had the fastest single-core performance, besting even dual-core phones in some benchmarks). This is certainly the best Intel-powered smartphone to date.

Not only that, Motorola claims that the long-lasting battery that is 40% more “powerful” (we take it that this is capacity, in mAh) than the competition (Moto compared this to the iPhone 4S), although that is just in theory and deserves to be fully tried out in real world use, as always. Thanks to the Intel Atom processor, you are able to launch the 8-megapixel camera “instantly” – taking less than a second to do so. Multi-shot mode allows you to capture 10 pictures in under a second, and with its illuminated sensor located on the back and High Dynamic Range (HDR) capabilities, you are able to shoot beautiful images even under challenging lighting conditions.

Too bad there is no Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box, as the RAZR i will instead come with Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. Fret not though, it is fully upgradeable to Jelly Bean, where it will also be accompanied by Voice Actions for Android and near field communication (NFC) technology support amongst others.

Surely you would find folks gushing over the kind of material used to construct the Motorola RAZR i, where premium protective materials were used to make sure the RAZR i is a go-getter wherever it goes. Boasting a diamond cut aircraft-grade aluminum frame that is made of Corning Gorilla Glass, the back boasts of DuPont KEVLAR. Not only that, it is protected overall with a splash-guard coating, including the electrical boards within.

Do expect the Motorola RAZR i to be available in black just like the Ford Model T from October onwards in select European and Latin American markets including the U.K., France, Germany, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, although additional countries will be revealed later. Pricing depends on the launch country, so you might want to check with your local Motorola representatives beforehand. [Press Release]

Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Back Cases Leaked

Published

on

droid-turbo-2-coverIt looks like there is more to the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 that we can look at this time around, where the smartphone is set to be the very first Droid-branded smartphone that is set to be made available to the masses via Moto Maker. Just in case you were wondering, Moto Maker happens to be Motorola’s very own online hardware customization service. The newly leaked image points to a variety of back covers – perhaps even all of them, where it seems that some are made out of leather, others carrying the possibility of a kevlar case, or perhaps some kind of fabric.

As for the hardware specifications, the Droid Turbo 2 is tipped to arrive with a “shatterproof” QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, and a generous 3,760 mAh battery. Can’t wait for October 27th for the official unveiling!

3rd Generation Moto G Spotted With 2GB RAM

Published

on

moto3indiaIt looks like the third generation Moto G from Motorola is about to be on the receiving end of 2GB RAM, as opposed to questions of whether it will come with just 1GB RAM or not. A posting on Indian export-import site Zauba has shown that 190 units of the upcoming third generation Moto G model were sent from Hong Kong to India for testing purposes, with half the number of those being black, while the remaining number were white in color.

Other than having listed down 2GB RAM, it also listed 8GB of internal memory, where each model was valued at $240 a pop. A couple more handsets shipped to India for testing were listed at a far lower value. All in all, we will simply have to wait for the official reveal as to ascertain whether this particular generation of the Moto G will come with 1GB RAM or double that amount this coming July 28th as Motorola holds an event in New York which will most probably tell all by then.
