Verizon Quietly Release Samsung Gusto 2 into the Wild
Yesterday, Verizon which has been a highlight in the news for the past few days quietly released a new basic phone called the Samsung Gusto 2. The $79.99 phone on a two-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate is available from Verizon now. The basic device is a flip-phone and has a 1.3MP camera, a customizable shortcut key, a 2-inch display with 128 x 160 pixels of resolution, a 1-inch external display with 96 x 96 pixels of resolution, Bluetooth 2.1, the standard Verizon apps and a 1000mAh batter which is said to be good for 7 hours of talk time or 14 hours on standby.
The interesting thing about this very essentials-only device is a feature that is called ‘Fake Call’ which allows users to set up a pseudo-call if they find themselves in any particular unwanted situation. While this device is nothing to brag about, if what you want is an easy-to-use phone with necessary basic features like calling, texting and internet access, the $79.99 Samsung Gusto 2 seems perfect. Before you buy it though, if you are the type of person who stores many things on your device, you should know that this one doesn’t even come with a microSD memory card slot.
So, there is a new Samsung smartphone that is about to be released – big surprise, that, and I say this with full a sarcasm. Still, those who want something that looks to hang out on the high end side of things in terms of design and form factor, and yet having a mid-range performer within, can always settle for the Samsung Galaxy A9.
The handset has already appeared on the FCC database, which means it has been approved, and listed as the Samsung Galaxy A9. With the green light given, it is but a matter of time before it hits the market. If you would like to fancy your chances with an upcoming mid-range device that seems to hover more on the higher end scheme of things, then the Samsung Galaxy A9 would certainly fit you to a ‘t’, so to speak. After all, accessory manufacturer ITSKINS has shared more details concerning this device, with the Galaxy A9 touted to be a wee bit more compact as opposed to the Galaxy S7 Plus, never mind that both handsets will come with 6.0″ screens.
Measurements of the Galaxy A9 include 161.9mm x 81.3mm x 7.34mm, where it would be slightly taller than the Galaxy Note5, while sporting a metal and glass design, a fingerprint reader that should be able to handle mobile payments, a Full HD Super AMOLED display, and a Snapdragon 620 chipset, among others.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 will no doubt be a smartphone that many people would look forward to picking up when it is ready, taking into consideration how flagship devices are always in demand. Well, the Galaxy S7 has been said to target an early 2016 release, and some photos of the alleged device has already been snapped, although one should take into consideration that the original Weibo post is no longer there.
Of course, do take this particular leak with a pinch of salt, since it could be one of the numerous smartphones from various manufacturers that could roll out a similar looking handset. In the leaked photos, you can see a wrap-around metal border design, which seems to be the in thing at least for the next couple of years. All that we can do now is to sit tight and wait for the real deal to surface.
