Does Samsung Want To Buy Nokia?

Published

on

It looks like everyone wants a piece of Nokia. First the rumors of Microsoft were circulating stating that they wanted to buy over Nokia’s phone division and develop Windows Phone 7 devices and now there are more rumors circulating that Samsung also wants a piece of Nokia.

Considering how badly Nokia has been doing, no thanks in a huge part to them ignoring the rise of the iPhone and Android devices, it wouldn’t be surprising if Samsung decided to take advantage of Nokia’s weakened state to buy them out and stamp out the competition. While Nokia has not been doing well in the smartphone business, their basic feature phones have been doing extremely well in countries who do not have the buying power to purchase smartphones and instead have to rely on these basic feature phones. Samsung too have been facing similar problems trying to sell their smartphones, and while some of their phones have had success, it does not compare to their basic features phone sales.

By buying Nokia out not only would Samsung loss one competitor but also add to Samsung’s lineup, so perhaps the rumor does have some basis. One has to question what would happen to Nokia’s and Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 deal if the rumors turn out to be true.

Samsung has declined to comment other than saying that these were just “market rumors”.

LG Works On Nuclun 2 Chipset

Published

on

LG-logoLG has been rather quiet about developing its very own mobile chipset design for some time already, where the first Nuclun SoC will soon be followed up by – surprise, surprise, the Nuclun 2. This is not the first time that the Nuclun 2 name was brought up, and up till now, there has been no devices that were released with Nuclun 2 at its heart, although that might change with the upcoming V10 successor if rumors prove to be correct.

In other words, the LG V10’s successor will most probably be released some time in the second half of the coming year, which means it will be some time before it ends up as a shipping product. It also remains to be seen whether the Nuclun 3 will hit the streets in the near future, but as with most other cases, patience is definitely called for.

Samsung Galaxy A9 Gains FCC Nod Of Approval

Published

on

galaxy-a9-fccSo, there is a new Samsung smartphone that is about to be released – big surprise, that, and I say this with full a sarcasm. Still, those who want something that looks to hang out on the high end side of things in terms of design and form factor, and yet having a mid-range performer within, can always settle for the Samsung Galaxy A9.

The handset has already appeared on the FCC database, which means it has been approved, and listed as the Samsung Galaxy A9. With the green light given, it is but a matter of time before it hits the market. While very little detail has been released so far, it should not be too long now before an official announcement is made. All that one can do now is to sit tight and wait. [FCC Page]

What is the world’s best kept secret? I suppose that would be a subjective question, with a myriad of answers for your picking if you were to take into consideration the different industries and niches, but where smartphones are concerned, especially with the HTC banner involved, then it would be the HTC One X9 being the next handset from the company. A set of photos of the alleged device has surfaced, and in these photos, it has more or less confirmed the overall design of the device – including its SIM card slot, power and volume button locations.

Other rumored hardware specifications include a 5.5” Full HD display, a MediaTek MT6795 SoC, either 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a 3,000mAh battery, a 13MP shooter at the back with OIS, and an UltraPixel front camera. All that we have to do now is to sit tight and wait for an official announcement concerning the hardware, and it is good to go.
