Dell Venue Pro delayed until mid-February in UK
While UK consumers will be able to enjoy the LG Optimus 2X before us folks in the states, they won’t be able to enjoy the goodness of Windows Phone 7 in a Dell Venue Pro until next month. An online retailer in the UK has confirmed that Dell has pushed the release date of the WP7 device to mid February, blaming Microsoft for the delay. Apparently there was an MMS bug in the operating system and Microsoft didn’t manage to rectify the problem in time. The Dell Venue Pro is the only portrait QWERTY-slider phone available right now, but with some jarring problems the phone had at launch (WiFi issues, out of stock), it has had mixed responses stateside. Now, with the delay happening in UK, it could lead to a loss of customers who might get another phone instead of waiting for the Venue Pro to arrive.

Dell Venue Pro on the receiving end of Windows Phone Tango update
The Dell Venue Pro comes has one advantage this time around, where it is on the receiving end of the Windows Phone Tango update. After all, this is not exactly the newest smartphone around, and to see the hardware still being supported is definitely worth a look. The Venue Pro is nearly a couple of years in age, and has the virtue of being one of the first Windows Phone powered devices to arrive at the market, so to see it being supported by the latest updates is always an encouraging sight.
To date, it was revealed that only one user in Germany was on the receiving end of this update on his handset, although others should follow suit pretty soon. Do bear in mind that this is not the Windows Phone 7.8 update which was promised to current Windows Phone 7.5-powered devices, and there is no certainty that this particular device will receive the update as well. Still, to see Dell extend such support is always worth mulling over.
