It is certainly heartbreaking to read of yet another natural disaster strike the earth, and Nepal is the latest country to be the “victim”. In fact, the death toll has been rising – and it does not look as though it is going to stop anytime soon, so it is nice to hear that Skype has taken the step to help victims in the country stay in touch with the rest of the world – if there is a connection, of course. Basically, Skype intends to make available free calls to landlines in addition to mobile phones in Nepal, free of charge.
This goes both ways too, which means one can make calls out of Nepal, without the need to fork out a single cent. It is encouraging to see Skype assist folks with an alternative method of communication right now so that they can reach out to their family and friends who would definitely be anxious to know of their safety in these trying moments.
