There has been different kinds of studies that were done in the past to point to the possible reduction in tablet sales, and a general slowing down of the market. However, it does not look as though the tablet is going to go the way of the netbook or the dodo. Some see tablets as a luxury rather than a necessity, and those who already have enough spare change have made their purchases already, while the do-not-have’s continue to remain in the same position. Best Buy CEO, Hubert Joly, thinks that laptop hybrids play a role in slowing down tablet sales to a point where they are “crashing”.
“Crashing” sounds rather serious, but actually it was meant more as a relative term, when placed side by side with the amazing growth spurt that the tablet industry went through right at the very beginning. So far, there is no actual defined upgrade cycle for a tablet which might have something to do with the slowing down of tablet sales, so it can be pretty difficult convincing existing tablet owners to upgrade. What do you think of the situation?
