It goes without saying that having a single flagship device in your product line up is always advantageous, but it does seem as though the folks over at Sony intend to rock the boat somewhat with the introduction of the Sony Xperia Z2 at this year’s Mobile World Congress. It appears as though the Xperia Z2 will carry the sole flagship status for just half a year. How did we arrive at such a conclusion? Sony Mobile’s Creative Director, Director of Product Planning and UX General Manager, Yoshiro Kurozumi, did mention that he figured out that a half a year upgrade cycle would be able to better serve this smartphone industry.
Kurozumi shared that to maintain a the flagship status of the product, one ought to upgrade it as soon as possible so that it will be able to remain competitive, and the Xperia Z2 in all probability will remain as Sony’s flagship smartphone only for the first half of this year. We do wonder just which of its “co-flagships” will be down the road.
