Microsoft has been working hard to make sure that their Windows Phone Store will be able to be on par with that on the Android Market as well as Apple App Store in terms of the number of apps available. Well, it was just last month that Microsoft mentioned about how Windows Phone has already arrived at a “critical mass” for apps, and predicted that in 2014, the “app gap” will be closed.

Microsoft has also announced that the Windows Phone Store has already surpassed “12 million transactions per day and Windows Phone Store surpassing 200,000 apps”. This rings in good news for developers as well as users, and Microsoft has also better news that will be able to get developers all excited concerning the health of the ecosystem. According to Microsoft, it has the most carriers connected for carrier billing right now out of all smartphone platforms, boasting of 51 carriers in 31 markets. It is nice to see the Windows Phone platform growing from strength to strength, as this would definitely be a cause for competition for both iOS and Android platforms. It remains to be seen whether BlackBerry will be able to catch up with the Windows Phone platform in the long run. Are you planning to switch over to Windows Phone anytime soon? [Press Release]
