Virgin Mobile, one of the smaller mobile carriers in the US, has begun to sell the ZTE Reef, which also happens to be the carrier’s first waterproof smartphone. The ZTE Reef is IPX7-certified, which means it is capable of resisting damage in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes, and the kicker is this – it will retail for a mere $149.99, sans contract. Powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, do not expect the ZTE Reef to reside in the high end side of things, simply because it is not such a handset to begin with in the first place.
You will find a 4” display at 800 x 480 resolution, a 1MP front-facing camera and a 5MP shooter at the back that also does HD video recording, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, Virgin Mobile Feed, Virgin Mobile ID Packs, a 1GHz processor (manufacturer remains unknown), and a microSD card slot for expansion purposes, touching a maximum of 32GB.
