When it rains, it pours, or so the saying goes. The thing is, the world does not seem to be too stoked to hear about Firefox OS powered smartphones, but that does not mean the hardware manufacturers are going to give it a miss, since it could potentially grow up to be another Android. After all, how many people gave Android a shot back in its early days, such as Android 1.4? Having said that, the Firefox OS powered ZTE Open recently received the nod of approval over by the FCC, and here we are with word that Alcatel, too, wants to jump on the Firefox OS-based smartphone bandwagon with the OneTouch Fire, and it happened to have been approved by the FCC as well.

Hardware-wise, do not expect too much from this puppy, since it will carry a 3.5” HVGA display, and will be accompanied by 256MB RAM, a microSD memory card slot, HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, A-GPS support, a 3-megapixel rear camera, a 1GHz single-core processor, and a 1,400 mAh battery.
