The first Google Nexus device was made by HTC, followed by Samsung for the next-two versions, followed by LG for the Nexus 4, leaving many to question who might be in charge for the Nexus 5, or the next-gen Nexus, whatever it is going to be called. Considering the supply issues that LG and Google experienced with the Nexus 4, would Google be willing to work with the South Korean company again? Well according to a report by The Korea Times, the answer would be yes. The publication has reported that LG will apparently be the one taking the lead on making the next Nexus device. Apparently this is due to Google being extremely satisfied with the Nexus 4 that they requested LG to make its successor.
This is a little odd as typically Google lets companies bid for the right to build a Nexus device. In fact Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility had in the past caused some worry as some believed that Motorola would be getting these contracts by default. In any case take this with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think? Did you enjoy the Nexus 4, and do you think LG should be making the Nexus 5 as well?
