When it comes to differentiating a phone from a competitor’s offering, usually offering something premium materials, exclusive software, a better price point, or flat out beating it in performance are some of the ways, but color options? Maybe not exactly a deal maker or breaker for that matter, but that could be the case with Motorola’s upcoming series of X Phones. You guys might have heard of the Motorola X Phone, which according to the rumor mill, is not a single device but rather a slew of devices, much like how Samsung has their Galaxy lineup, and LG has their Optimus range of products. The rumor of different color options comes from a tip from a source of Phone Arena who apparently has ties with Motorola. This follows speculation that the X Phone could be a highly customizable device after a statement was made by Guy Kawasaki, although many speculated that the customization could come in the form of hardware, rather than color options. Granted the multitude of colors could appeal to a variety of customers who thinks that black/white finishes are a bit too boring, but what do you guys think? Will 20 color options be considered a competitive advantage?
