Future Blackberry 10 Smartphones Will No Longer Have Removable Batteries [Rumor]

While phones with removable backs might “destroy” the aesthetics of the device, such as by providing breaks in an otherwise seamless design, what it serves is that it allows users to swap out the battery with a new one in times of need, or when the charging capabilities of the current battery is starting to diminish. This allows users to extend the use of their phone by a couple of years, while users with phones that do not allow their batteries to be removed will probably have to end up getting a new device. This is one of the advantages of owning a Blackberry phone, like the Z10 and the Q10, both of which feature removable backs and batteries.

However according to a rumor that has been picked up by BBOS, it has been suggested that future Blackberry 10 smartphones will do away with the removable backs, starting with the rumor R-series which we have yet to see. The rumors go on to suggest that the Blackberry Q10 could also be the last Blackberry 10 smartphone in 2013 that will feature a removable back and battery, although we’re not sure if by that phrasing it could meaning that the removable batteries could return in the following year. In any case having a fixed battery is not all that bad as long as it provides long life, such as the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX, but what do you guys think? Does having non-removable batteries affect your decision to buy a Blackberry 10 smartphone?
