In terms of finance, HTC isn’t doing that well and could definitely do something about it, but what? While we’re sure part of their strategy is to bank on the recently announced HTC One, perhaps a purchase of another company’s mobile phone division could be the answer. According to reports, word on the street has it that HTC might be interested in purchasing Panasonic’s mobile business division, or at least be one of the contenders to make a bid on the company. On one hand it’s not surprising if it were true that Panasonic is looking to sell its mobile business – after all with the launch of the Eluga that wasn’t exactly met with a ton of excitement, plus with Panasonic withdrawing from Europe only a year after they announced that they wanted to break into the European market, it certainly does not sound like Panasonic is ahead of the game. That being said, we have to wonder what HTC will do with Panasonic’s mobile business if they buy it. It’s not like Panasonic has an established track record for creating smartphones, so it is possible that HTC’s interest could be more to do with intellectual property. Either way we’re just speculating so take this with a grain of salt, but what do you guys think? Will a purchase of Panasonic’s mobile division help with HTC’s troubles?
