Ad Blockers Removed From Google Play Store

Google has made a recent decision that might boggle some folks, as they have removed ad blocking software – the entire slew of them, from their Play Store. Normally, whenever Google removes apps from the Play Store, it is because those are malicious apps, but an ad blocker? Isn’t that a good thing? Well, legally Google has the onus to do so, where Section 4.4 of their Android Developer Distribution Agreement actually prohibits an app “that interferes with, disrupts, damages, or accesses in an unauthorized manner the devices, servers, networks, or other properties or services of any third party including, but not limited to, Android users, Google or any mobile network operator.”

Since the ad blocker’s main purpose of existence is to disrupt the functionality of other apps, it would definitely fall under Google’s axe this time around. Ah well, the only workaround would be to perform a manual installation.
