It seems that Ubuntu is going to be the latest member to join the mobile operating system group, where they will in all probability try to carve a niche for themselves in the Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry 10 tussle, as Android and iOS are clearly miles ahead of the rest. Well, word on the (Wall) Street has it that October 2013 would be when Ubuntu-powered smartphones will hit the market, specifically, in two “large geographic markets”, although it remains to be seen whether North America would be one of them.
It is said that the Ubuntu phone has picked up its fair share of interest from different carriers, where a number of them are more than eager to break up the smartphone market hegemony of Apple and Google. Uh oh, does Apple and Google have something to fear this October?
