Huawei is bold to lay claim to that unofficial title with the announcement of the Huawei Ascend D2, where it comes with a 5-inch FHD IPS+ 443 PPI Super Retina LCD display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 13MP BSI camera and a 3000mAh battery, which Huawei claims is able to deliver a standby time of 6 days thanks to Huawei’s proprietary battery efficiency technology.
Not only that, the Huawei Ascend D2 is also said to be rather rugged in nature, as it is protected by an anti-scratch Corning Gorilla glass which is touted to be dust- and water-resistant. In fact, at the press conference yesterday, we saw the Ascend D2 having water poured all over it, and this 170 gram smartphone still ran just fine, aluminum body and all. It will be made available in pure white and crystal blue colors later this month in China, while a Japanese release is tipped to happen sometime down the road.
