They say that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and the security of information in a company really depends on the staff manning it. You can have the most sophisticated system around and yet if the human working around that system is careless, it is of not much use. Having said that, companies do want to make sure that they always have an extra ace up their sleeves in terms of information, but it seems that someone over at Google did not get the memo. A human must have prematurely hit the “Publish” button which resulted in a blog post and subsequent tweet announcing an update to the Google Drive app, never mind the fact that the update is not quite ready for prime time action just yet.
Needless to say, the blog post as well as tweet was removed in a jiffy, but the Internet being a remarkable sentient being that it is today, has already gotten a whiff of it – and was not ready to let such news pass easily without spreading the word around. It seems that the new updates introduced in Google Drive will see iOS users receive the ability to edit documents, in addition to viewing Google Presentations.
