Apple did go through their fair share of legal troubles in the past concerning the abuse of their workforce, at least not directly, but rather, indirectly through the way Foxconn treats their workers. This time around, we have had word earlier yesterday morning concerning allegations of child labor abuse by Samsung in China’s HEG, where they have employed workers who are as young as 14 years of age. A 31-page undercover report claimed that labor advocacy group China Labor Watch have already outlined a wide number of alleged abuses such as underage workers, physical abuse and excessive overtime at HEG’s mainland China facility.

Samsung is definitely not going to take this bit of news lightly, as they have certainly taken the proactive step of conducting a couple of separate on-site inspections on HEG’s working conditions earlier this year, and did not uncover any of the alleged irregularities on those occasions. Samsung will continue to conduct a different field survey at the earliest possible time in order to take the necessary corrective measures, if required.
