If you happen to own at least one of the following smartphones – Xperia acro (SO-02C), Xperia arc (SO-01C), Xperia PLAY (SO-01D) and Xperia ray (SO-03C), then here is a little bit of bad news for you. Japanese mobile operator NTT DoCoMo has decided that all four of them will not be on the receiving end of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update, and this came about after careful consideration on their part. At least, NTT DoCoMo was upfront enough to say that because of performance and memory issues, these four devices are unable to provide the best Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience possible. Shame really, as we do not see their Western counterparts argue that 512MB of RAM is insufficient to keep Ice Cream Sandwich going. After all, three out of those four mentioned devices (the Xperia PLAY being the odd one out here) has already been rocking to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for quite some time already.
