It seems that you cannot have your way all the time, as Apple found out in China. Earlier, we talked about how Taiwan’s government has warned Acer and Asus (and other PC manufacturers based in Taiwan) to be on their toes, that is, by being wary of Apple’s bag of patents lest they end up getting sued left, right and center. Well, recently there was news that Apple settled with Proview over the iPad trademark in China for $60 million, and here we are with Zhi Zhen Internet Technology who claims that Siri’s voice command charms actually trample upon a patent that is being used for the Xiao i Robot voice system on phones as well as the Internet.
Zhi Zhen claims that this particular lawsuit is not new at all, where accusations were filed in June in addition to a patent application that dates all the way back – wait for it, to 2004. Apple has remained mum on the situation, and chances are they are making sure that their legal eagles have all the relevant ammunition to mount a watertight case in their defense.
