According to various reports, Google is apparently set to launch a Nexus tablet of their own which they’re hoping will compete against the iPad and Amazon’s Kindle Fire at the same time. However since Google has yet to actually confirm any of this, it’s all rumors for now. With that being said, the folks at Digitimes are now reporting that their sources have confirmed that Google will debuting their Nexus tablet at Google I/O which will be taking place on the 27-29th of June. Their report also claims that the tablets are ready to go and are expected to be made available in July which is after the alleged announcement. No word on how much the tablet will cost, but it is expected to be priced competitively in order to make it a more attractive purchase option.
However given its budget pricing, those looking for a 3G experience will be disappointed as the tablet will only feature WiFi connectivity. Interestingly Digitimes also claims that ASUS is set to release an Android 7″ tablet of its own which could be priced similarly or cheaper than Google’s Nexus tablet. Given that ASUS is rumored to be the one building the Nexus tablet, we find this rumor a bit odd. Either way Digitimes has been more miss than hit these days so we suggest taking this info with a grain of salt for now, at least until more official information can be had.
