Twitter’s Mobile Site Just Got an Overhaul

Published

on

It seems that the popular micro-blogging service has revamped its mobile website to use just one third the bandwidth it was using prior to the overhaul. Now users of the mobile device who don’t make use of the plethora of applications out there and prefer to access the mobile site which is not only smaller but faster as well, will be able to save some money of the precious and expensive data usage which we all cherish.

That said however, it’s a step in the right direction for the company, as feature phones are still more widely used than smartphones. Twitter is clearly tapping into that market by making it accessible by just about anyone even if the users are sporting what might be a very slow connection.

Vice President of Product at Twitter Satya Patel said, “Like Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for Android, mobile.twitter.com is fast, like a native mobile app; it uses one-third less bandwidth than the previous iteration. We’re rolling out this new mobile web experience starting today, and will continue to make Twitter the most accessible way to connect with the world, even with the weakest signals and the simplest devices.”
