LCD Suppliers for 7.85-inch iPad Certifed and Ready to Go [Rumor]
With regards to the much rumored more “affordable” mini iPad from Apple, there seems to be a new bit of information that surfaced just today. Taiwan Publication Liberty Times (translated by Macotakara) reported that LG and AU Optronics were just certified to supply the LCD display panels meant for the alleged iPad Mini. Beyond that, the report also indicates that both the manufacturers are working toward a shipping target sometime in the second half of 2012. In addition to that, the publication also claims that both the manufacturers will be producing up to 6 million of the devices but if it is true, it seems like Apple should consider making more due to the holiday season at the end of the year.
The purpose of this tablet that is also rumored to not feature the Retina display is to take on affordable tablets such as Amazon’s Kindle in what seems to be an attempt at total monopolization by the Cupertino tech giant. With regards to the display, other rumors have indicated that Apple will be opting for the pixel dimensions we saw with the original iPad which is 1024 x 768. Allegedly, “Apple” thinks that this will help cut costs and it will be able to sell the rumored tablet at a lower cost. As usual with all news that arrives in this manner, do take it with a pinch of salt.

With Japan, Germany and the UK being tier one Apple launch countries, this means that those living in the mentioned countries will receive the iPhones at the same time as folks living over in the US – traditionally speaking, of course. There really isn’t that much time left to wait, as it is less than a month away, and I am quite sure that the time will pass by sooner than you think.
It looks like the folks over at Digitimes have come up with their own interpretation of things to come – that there will be no iPad Air 3 released, at least for this year. Digitimes has had their fair share of hits and misses in the past, so it would be best to take this rumor concerning the non-release of the iPad Air 3 in 2015 with a pinch of salt.
Digitimes also laid claim that the iPad mini 4 will not be as supercharged as some of the rumors that had been going around, as it will bring with it only small and incremental upgrades when compared to its predecessor, the iPad mini 3. This does not seem to bode well for fans of the compact tablet, taking into consideration how the iPad mini 3 itself was improved over its predecessor with a new Touch ID fingerprint reader.
Since Apple tends to roll out a new iPad in October, we will just have to sit tight and see whether this particular rumor has enough “legs” to run.
