Huawei Investing in Gesture Control and Cloud Storage Research
Despite the Chinese company called Huawei revealing extremely powerful smartphones recently, the company is still not very well know outside of its country of origin. However, it seems that the company doesn’t have a problem in obtaining the necessary funding it requires to keep itself relevant. In this latest related development, Huawei’s North American Chief of Research John Roese stated that the company has current plans to look into 3D gesture support for its smartphones.
He explains that the feature can be achieved with the use of two front-facing cameras which are supported by a powerful processor that will help interpret a video feed in three-dimensional interaction. On top of that, a separate bit of news indicates that the company is also looking to invest heavily into an effort to research further into cloud computing. Through the process the company hopes to accumulate up to 15 petabytes of data.
To make their target a little more realistic, the company has teamed up with CERN for the research part of this endeavor and the Chinese company believes that it could “change the economics of storage by an order of magnitude.” What this sounds like is that the company is finding a way to introduce its own cloud-storage system which will be allegedly far cheaper than the others. Both the discussed trends seem to be something has been emerging quickly as of late with the absolute latest development being that the South Korean electronics manufacturer LG launched its LG-Cloud storage system only yesterday.
