HP Confirms Windows 8 Tablets Plans

After HP acknowledged the fact that its TouchPad webOS tablet did not perform up to the company’s expectations, the CEO of the company Meg Whitman did mention that it would be getting back into the tablet game. On top of that, a few leaked documents last month indicated a 10-inch tablet from HP that was apparently in the works. As usual, with leaks, rumors and speculations, we never take them with anything but a pinch of salt until something official comes by. Now apparently, in this case, it has.

Although there are no mentions of either a launch date or pricing, HP has quietly confirmed the speculations that the company will be bringing HP Windows 8 tablets to the market later in the year. Besides that, the devices will also include HP’s own cloud-based storage service. The confirmation came when Whitman along with the Vice President of HP, Todd Bradley apparently stated that the company’s upcoming tablets would run Microsoft’s new operating system. As for the above mentioned webOS, there is still no word as to whether or not the company will be releasing more device running on it but for now, HP has transformed it to an open source project. Its credibility however, could be questioned if the company itself doesn’t release any new phones or tablets based on webOS.
