Google’s 7-inch Tablet with Asus to Ship in June
Rumors of a 7-inch tablet by Google that is to be manufactured by Asustek have been floating around the internet and they indicate that the tablet will be launched in June. According to the report, initial shipments will see 600,000 units distributed. According to sources who claim to be close to the upstream supply chain, the machine will be officially released to the masses in July. After Asustek was contacted for comment, it seems that they have declined.
Apparently, Google originally planned to release its entry-level 7-inch slate in May but its alleged design and costs did not meet expectations that were set. Resultantly, the product was allegedly delayed to a July release for the manufacturers involved to implement some “minor adjustments”. If the report is anything to be believed, the 7-inch Google tablet made by Asustek is expected to achieve a total shipment amount of two to two and a half million units in 2012 alone.
