Future BlackBerry 10 Device Names Found in BlackBerry 10 Alpha Developer Phones
A few BlackBerry 10 enthusiasts have been scoring the newly announced platform for any secrets that lurk under the hood and it looks like they haven’t been coming up empty. J Duke from OSBB went through the BlackBerry 10 system file on the manufacturer’s Developer Alpha device and by keying in ‘file:///radio/etc/sv.numbers’ into the browser bar, a list of devices with internal names which will apparently be using the upcoming BlackBerry platform comes out for all to see.
They are # RO44 – Nevada 0x8400270A,1, # R051 – Winchester2 LTE 0x0c001a06,1, # R052 – Winchester2 HSPA+ 0x0d001a06,1, # R053 – Winchester2 LTE HSPA+ 0x0e001a06,1, # R061 – Colt 0×04002307,1, # R072 – London 0×04002607,1, # R073 – Blackforest 0×04002706,1, # R084 – Nashville 0x8500270A,1, # R085 – Naples 0x8600270A,1.
From the list of devices attached with codenames used by RIM, we can see Colt which is the developer device that was given out to developers during the launch of the platform last week, Blackforest which is apparently, but unconfirmed to be the unannounced 10-inch PlayBook while the Winchester2’s are the 3G and 4G models of the current 7-inch PlayBook. As for the devices that we do not know about yet, they are the Nevada, Napes and Nashville. We hope that more people are tearing into the crux of their devices so we can continue to distribute interesting tit-bits of information like this to you.

Karalux Extends Midas Touch To BlackBerry Priv
Back in the day, it was anathema to think that Apple computers would run on Intel processors, and Apple machines would have Microsoft Office running on them. Well, those days have long since arrived and gone, and it looks like to hear of a BlackBerry device running on Android? Now that’s what is going to happen with the BlackBerry Priv, where the folks over at Vietnam-based Karalux have something special up their sleeves for this handset, that is, by offering a gold-plating service.
It is going to be more challenging than usual though, as Karalux shared, “Unlike the previous generations, it is a little bit more difficult to disassemble BlackBerry Priv. Karalux engineers took nearly 2 hours to ‘operate’ its details, and spent 4 more hours with more than 10 different procedures to complete the first gold-plated BlackBerry Priv in Vietnam.”
The handset and gold-plating will cost $1,111 thereabouts, whereas international customers will have to fork out more at approximately $1,350 to bring one of these puppies back home. [Press Release]

BlackBerry Venice Is New Codename For Device
It looks like BlackBerry has not decided to call it quits just yet where the smartphone market is concerned, and this time around, their unannounced smartphone has been given the codename BlackBerry Venice. What makes the BlackBerry Venice special is the fact that this could very well be one of BlackBerry’s very first devices that will run on the Android mobile operating system.
In recent times, we have heard that the BlackBerry Venice ought to be made available some time down the road over at AT&T. Apparently, @evleaks claims that this new handset, too, will be sold by T-Mobile, although there is no exact word on availability.
Whispers on the street point to the BlackBerry Venice arriving later this November. I guess all that we can do now is to sit tight and wait.
