ZTE and Huawei to Ship 100 million Handsets in 2012
According to a report from DigiTimes (via KnowYourMobile), ZTE has set an internal target of 40 million handsets to be shipped in the year 2012 which is a much increased figure from ten million in 2011. In the same vein, Huawei, the other China-based manufacturer is expected to hit 60 million handsets. Should the manufacturers hit their targets, their phones will account for about 15% of the global smartphone market share for the year.
The report also states the Chinese analyst site hqew.com has predicted a shipping of 57 million smartphones for Huawei and 37 million for ZTE which is not far off from both their respective targets. With the hardware that both companies brought to MWC in February, their targets are not exactly unrealistic. Huawei’s Diamond range scored impressively on benchmark tests with the Ascend D Quad XL.
The device features the company’s own K3V2 quad-core processor and the results showed that it could outperform many of its competitors. Meanwhile, on ZTE’s side is the Era which is a genuine contender to HTC’s One range of handsets with similar specifications. Both of the companies will have their devices running Android’s Ice Cream Sandwich which will definitely give them a competitive edge. Have you used either a Huawei or ZTE handset?
