Sprint Galaxy Nexus Goes Live

on

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus for Sprint has finally gone live for $199.99 on a 2 year long contract. The device which will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich today brings along Google Wallet integration along with other goodies. One interesting thing as with a lot of Sprint’s devices is that the Galaxy Nexus will be 4G LTE capable. However, Sprint is still trying to make the network transition from WiMax to LTE.

The Sprint Galaxy Nexus will be one of three smartphones to be compatible with Sprint’s upcoming 4G LTE network. What makes this a little weird is that the LTE device including the Galaxy Nexus will not be able to take advantage of the speeds since they are LTE capable but not backwards-compatible with the WiMax network currently run by the carrier. Rumors and small announcements by the carrier indicate that Sprint will begin its 4G LTE network in June and until then, potential buyers of the Galaxy Nexus and other 4G LTE capable Sprint devices will just have to make do with a 3G connection.
