Skype Makes its Way to Windows Phone Devices

After being available on other OS’ like Android, Symbian and iOS for some time now, Windows Phone users have been getting anxious of the availability of their beloved video-chatting/instant messaging application, Skype on their smartphones. Now it seems you will not have to wait any longer as the app has been officially launched for the first time and is ‘Live’ in the Windows Phone Marketplace. This effectively allows members of this category to join up with 200 million other mobile users of Skype.

After the application was in beta since February interests have been on the rise since the app garnered features like video calling in portrait mode as well as other friend management capabilities such as invite, accept invitations, block contact and unblock contact. The company responsible for the application said, “This is the first of many releases to come for Windows Phone, so stay tuned for even more capabilities in the future. We believe in the great potential of the Windows Phone platform and will continue to invest over time to enable experiences unmatched by any other app in the market.”
