SkyDrive Gets Major Update
With cloud-storage services like Samsung’s S-Cloud and Google’s Drive rumored to be just around the corner, the team over at Microsoft have jumped into action with their answer cloud-based storage services. On top of the hard work that has been put towards integrating the service in the upcoming Windows 8 OS, the team behind Microsoft’s SkyDrive have updated the service to include features like desktop support, paid upgrades and more.
One feature worth highlighting the app overhaul is desktop sharing which allows users to manage their SkyDrive account from within Windows Explorer itself. Prior to the upgrade, the service was offering 25GB for free but after the update, the app which works on Macs, PCs, Windows Phones, and iPhones will allow 7GB free as opposed to Google Drive’s rumored 5GB. Paid storage plans range from 20GB to a staggering 100GB but detailed pricing has not yet been confirmed. If you are one of those who signed up for the service before the limit of 7GB free was implemented you can claim your 25GB from the storage section on SkyDrive’s website.
