For those you guys in the US Army, you will be interested to hear that the US Army has officially announced the launch of their own app store dubbed the Army Software Marketplace. The launch was an initiative by the US Army to bring training aids, planning tools and other applications onto a soldier’s smartphone or tablet. The project will deliver not just downloadable apps, but web-based apps as well, and all of which are approved for use within the Army’s Common Operating Environment on the Army Network. At the moment 12 apps are available but they’re only available on iOS devices, but fret not as the US Army has promised that apps and support for Android devices will be included in the future. It will be interesting to see what sort of apps will be developed and how effective they will be in the battlefield or during training.
