Earlier this week, Samsung has taken it upon itself to increase the security of the Face Unlock feature on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Google which has always said that the ‘Face Unlock’ feature was no more than a gimmick and definitely not a serious biometric feature that pointed at security found that their feature allowed users to unlock their devices using just a photo of themselves only days after it was announced.

Samsung on the other hand, are determined to make the feature evolve and be taken more seriously as a genuine security measure that can be used by users. They have added a feature which requires the user to blink when the window that is capturing your face comes up to prove that you are indeed not a photograph. With regards to when the update containing this fix will come out, it is still unclear. If you think that they could have come up with another idea that might be better, do leave us a comment explaining it.
