Samsung Galaxy Beam up for pre-order in the UK
We’re not sure how many of you guys out there actually see the need to bring about a pico projector with you wherever you go, but if you must, you might recall the Samsung Galaxy Beam Android handset that we covered at MWC 2012 earlier this year. Well the good news is that if you were planning on getting your hands on the phone, Clove, an online retailer in the UK, has put up the Galaxy Beam’s pre-order page and has listed the device at £454.80 including VAT, or £379 without VAT.
For those who might have missed our coverage at MWC, the Galaxy Beam sports a 15 lumens built-in projector capable of projecting images/videos of up to 50” wide. It will pack a 1GHz dual-core processor under its hood with 768MB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, a 4” 480×800 TFT display, a 5MP rear-facing camera capable of 720p HD video capture and will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread although it was not mentioned if the device would be getting an upgrade to Android 4.0 in the near future. So, there is a new Samsung smartphone that is about to be released – big surprise, that, and I say this with full a sarcasm. Still, those who want something that looks to hang out on the high end side of things in terms of design and form factor, and yet having a mid-range performer within, can always settle for the Samsung Galaxy A9.
The handset has already appeared on the FCC database, which means it has been approved, and listed as the Samsung Galaxy A9. With the green light given, it is but a matter of time before it hits the market. If you would like to fancy your chances with an upcoming mid-range device that seems to hover more on the higher end scheme of things, then the Samsung Galaxy A9 would certainly fit you to a ‘t’, so to speak. After all, accessory manufacturer ITSKINS has shared more details concerning this device, with the Galaxy A9 touted to be a wee bit more compact as opposed to the Galaxy S7 Plus, never mind that both handsets will come with 6.0″ screens.
Measurements of the Galaxy A9 include 161.9mm x 81.3mm x 7.34mm, where it would be slightly taller than the Galaxy Note5, while sporting a metal and glass design, a fingerprint reader that should be able to handle mobile payments, a Full HD Super AMOLED display, and a Snapdragon 620 chipset, among others.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 will no doubt be a smartphone that many people would look forward to picking up when it is ready, taking into consideration how flagship devices are always in demand. Well, the Galaxy S7 has been said to target an early 2016 release, and some photos of the alleged device has already been snapped, although one should take into consideration that the original Weibo post is no longer there.
Of course, do take this particular leak with a pinch of salt, since it could be one of the numerous smartphones from various manufacturers that could roll out a similar looking handset. In the leaked photos, you can see a wrap-around metal border design, which seems to be the in thing at least for the next couple of years. All that we can do now is to sit tight and wait for the real deal to surface.
