New iPad keeps charging despite ‘Battery Full’ message
Online reports have stated that the new iPad does not stop charging when the device displays the ‘Battery Full’ message. Daniel Lonescu from PcWorld says that to get the most from the battery, you should keep charging it at least for another hour after it says it is full. In a review regarding the new iPad, it was discovered that the 3rd generation iPad continues to draw 10 watts of power for about an hour after the device claims that it’s “full”.
To power the high-res display in the device along with the improved quad-core graphics chip, Apple increased the battery size and output by 70%. The new iPad has a 42.5 watt-hour battery compared to the 25-watt-hour Li-Ion battery found in its predecessor. While it is slightly thicker and heavier than the batteries from previous models, many online reports also state that it runs hotter despite Apple denying all overheating issues.
What the new iPad owners would have realised by now is that while it does give you a longer battery life, it also takes longer to completely charge the battery. Several online sources have recommended that if you are always in a well-lit room where you cannot put the brightness all the way down, keep the brightness slider in the middle and you can expect up to 11.6 hours of use. And do remember to keep your new iPad on the juice for at least another after it says that charging is done to get best results out of a charge.
