LookTel Recognizer app helps the visually impaired

For the visually impaired, sometimes trying to reach for the right object can be a difficult task as you might not be able to distinguish between them. So if you are visually impaired, or if you know someone that is, then perhaps the LookTel Recognizer app might for iOS might be worth checking out.

It basically utilizes the camera on the iOS device to scan objects, and will speak out the name of an object that it recognizes. An initial setup has to be made, where the user will scan objects, speak its name, size, description, etc, where it will be stored into the app’s library. From then onwards, recognized objects can be recalled from the app’s library and will then be identified to the user.

The app itself is currently available from the iTunes App Store for $9.99, which is a bit pricey as far as apps are concerned, but if the demo video above has convinced you of its usefulness, perhaps its $9.99 price tag could be justified. [Press release]
