HTC One X and its confusing name
We reported a story regarding a HTC One X that was benchmarked earlier and that had a Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon powering it. For the readers who are unfamiliar with this, there are two One X variants. The one that was benchmarked (dual-core Snapdragon S4) is the one that will be released in the U.S while the Asian and European device will be packing a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 but unlike its American counterpart, will have no 4G LTE.
While that is not the only confusing matter at hand regarding the (two) mobile devices, the name given to the phones have been equally perplexing. The folks over at IntoMobile has pored over press releases and online sources to figure out exactly what is going on in order not to give the readers any wrong information and for that I thank them.
According to an online report by them and a statement from HTC itself, The HTC One XL was announced during MWC as the LTE version hence the ‘L’ in ‘XL’ and the device will be sold in select LTE markets around the world while in the U.S, AT&T will carry the LTE version with the name HTC One X. This means that the HTC One X outside of the U.S will not be 4G LTE capable with only the XL models given the nod. Hopefully this has cleared up some confusion.
