Google Plans Low-Priced Tablet

Reports state that Google is teaming up with a hardware maker based in Asia to produce a low-priced 7-inch tablet that is said to compete with Amazon’s Kindle and Apple’s iPad. Sources ‘in-the-know’ revealed that the tablet will be unsurprisingly packed with an Android Operating System, all of which will be powered by hardware made by partners, Samsung and Asustek.

An Asustek tablet is rumored to be released as early as May that is said to carry a price tag of $199 which would make it an extra and affordable option besides other competing tablets like the Kindles and the older iPads. A move like this might prove to be a good one because internet search powerhouse, Google putting its weight behind an economical tablet is likely to put pressure on other tablet producers to introduce more competitive pricing.

As always with new technology, when companies fight over pricing and specs, the eventual winners will be the customers who get a bag of tricks at a more affordable price so who are we to complain. When questions were posed to Google however, the company still prefers to remain silent over the issue. A Google tablet is likely to have a pure Android experience much like the Nexus devices.
