Google Drive Said to Offer 5GB Free Cloud Storage [Rumor]
An alleged screenshot which is said to be about Google Drive has leaked. The screenshot as you can see above suggests that Google is determined to attract customers of the famous cloud storage app, Dropbox, away by offering more than double in storage space. The leaked screenshot suggests that users will get 5GB of storage space that will sync across all of the user’s devices for free.
The information on the screenshot is said to differ from earlier reports stating that Google Drive will offer 1GB for free. However, offering more than double would make sense to lure DropBox users away since they are the current leaders in that particular market. Another interesting bit of information we can garner from the leaked screenshot is that it shows access to your stored files through not only smartphones and tablets but also desktop and laptop computers. Even with an edit, the change will reportedly be synced across all the relevant devices.
Rumors regarding Google Drive have been flitting about for a long time now. They started in 2006 and only in February this year did reports suggest that Google was ready to launch it. An even more recent report suggested that it could launch in the first week of April and also that it might take after Google Docs to let 3rd party developers use an API to allow content to be stored from their apps to Google Drive.
