If you’re in the market for an Android smartphone that’s rugged, you sure have many devices to choose from and here’s one more you could look at – the Getac PS326 Android smartphone, and as the photo above implies, it looks like it could handle a certain amount of abuse, although based on its hardware specifications, we’re guessing the device will be bought more for its ruggedness rather than its high tech specs.

In terms of hardware, we’re looking at a 3.5” VGA display with a pressure sensitive touchscreen display, an 806MHz processor with 256MB of RAM, IP67 certification, Bluetooth, GPS, a 3MP rear-facing camera, a built-in electronic compass, an altimeter for measuring altitude, a microSD card slot and will come with Android 2.2 Froyo on board. Yes, you read that right – in a market where Gingerbread has started to dominate and with Ice Cream Sandwich trickling in slowly, a Froyo device really seems a bit out of place.

No word on when we can expect to see this device hit the market, nor how much it will cost, but for more information, head on down to Getac’s website for the details.
