Galaxy Tab 11.6 spotted in Samsung Exynos 5 advertisement?
The rumored 11.6” high-res Samsung tablet might have reared its head in the company’s Exynos 5 advertisement since rumors of it were flitting about since last December. According to AndroidAndMe, the device shown in the advertisement is very unlikely to be the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1” or its ‘N’ variant sold in Germany as they both run on Tegra 2 dual-core processors and not the subject of the advertisement, the upcoming Exynos 5250 dual-core processor.
While the device bore some resemblance to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Galaxy Note 10.1, the grills by the side of the device and the texture on the body seemed to be very different. In addition, the largest difference of all was that the device appeared to be longer. The Samsung Exynos 5 product page shows that the processor is has been designed specifically for high-end tablets with a power consumption 30% lower than previous generation processors such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon S2/S3. The Exynos 5 will be capable of clocking speeds up to 2GHz.
Although currect screen sizes when it comes to tablet stop at 10.1 inches, Toshiba announced its 13.3” prototype during CES 2012 which may hit stores later in the year. Following Toshiba, other manufacturers will probably follow suit and given Samsung’s wide range of sizes (7”, 7.7”,8.9” and 10.1”), it would not come as much of a surprise if an 11.6” tablet is in the offing.
