Flickr data shows that digital camera of choice is Apple iPhone
Apple’s line of iPhones has become the choice for consumers looking to take photos. Analyst Ben A. Reitzes stated that Apple’s smartphone can now be called, “the digital camera of choice for consumers and enthusiasts”. His observation comes from the latest data from Flickr. The data shows that the iPhone 4 is the most popular camera used on the site with a staggering 51 million registered users. The smartphone even beat out second place Canon EOS 5D Mark II as well as the third placed Nikon D90.
When tracking smartphones on Flickr only, the results showed what might have been a list of phones that have been released by Apple over the past 4 years. The top 5 smartphones that were used on Flickr were (in order) the iPhone 4 at first place, followed by the iPhone 4S, iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS while a lonely Android powered HTC EVO 4G took the distant 5th spot with only half the number of users that the iPhone 3GS had. Reitzes believes that iPhones have replaced the standalone digital camera for many consumers because of its ease of usage as well as its ability to quickly share photos online. Do you agree with Reitzes or would you still prefer to whip out a DSLR when any photography moment presents itself.
