Domino’s UK sees £1 million in a week with m-commerce
The pizza company Domino’s was raking in £100,000 a year via its website 12 years ago. Now however, due to its integration of mobile apps and services the company announced a record breaking £1 million ($1.59 million) in sales via mobile platforms for just a single week. Domino’s has shown that a combination of the right mobile apps and services could open the floodgates for profit. Late last year, Domino’s had a field day with its highest number of orders in a day as they handled over £1 million orders.
From that figure, 13% of them were made via mobile device which was substantiated by its iPhone application. The application which has generated over £10 million over the past year, accounts for 4.1% of all online orders. After that in February of this year, the company released an app for Windows Phone to add on to the various channels of ordering. Domino’s first-quarter management statement showed that in the 13 weeks of 2012 right up until 25 March, the company saw system sales increase from £132.3 million in 2011 to £144.2 million which shows a 9% increase. For a company that was making just £100,000 a year via its website, we now have a company that has £10 million in yearly sales just from an iPhone app and £1 million in daily sales from its various online platforms. If that is not integrating to the tech world, I don’t know what is.
