Apples advertising and promotions have landed the tech Giants in hot soup when a government competition regulator said that the Cupertino-based company have “misled” the Australian public into thinking that by purchasing the new iPad they will be able to connect to a 4G mobile network.
The issue that is of concern to The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) takes issue with the naming of the iPad that contains the extension “with WiFi + 4G”.

Due to this happening, the ACCC will be seeking “urgent interlocutory relief to ensure consumers are made aware of the correct technical capabilities of the device.” Apple has seen several scenarios where carriers outside of North America have restricted the advertisement of the 4G iPad that the name or branding could confuse and possibly frustrate potential customers.

The company recognized it would invite responses from regulators and added a caveat to the 4G iPad listing on its official website which reads, “The iPad with WiFi + 4G model can roam worldwide on fast GSM/UMTS networks, including HSPA, HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA. When you travel internationally, you can use a microSIM card from a local carrier. You will also be able to connect to 4G LTE networks of AT&T in the U.S and Bell, Rogers and Telus in Canada.
