Apple’s new iPad benchmarked, reveals 1GHz processor and 1GB of RAM

When the iPhone 4S was released, many assumed that Apple would be playing catchup to Android by introducing 1GB of RAM with the device, Unfortunately that did not prove to be the case, and those speculations started up again with the new iPad. The good news is that the good folks over at Tinhte.vn (the same guys who created the unboxing video) is that they ran the iPad through Geekbench which returned some pretty interesting results.

The processor was revealed to have been clocked at 1GHz and is the same class as the iPad 2’s processor, and the RAM has been confirmed as 1GB. It seems a bit odd that the test revealed the same mid-700 score as the iPad 2, especially given the new iPad supposedly has a newer processor and a quad-core GPU. In any case, we will be keeping our eyes peeled for more benchmark tests later when the device has officially made its way into more hands, so stay tuned!
