Android 5.0 rumored for a Q3 release

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is barely out the door and has yet to reach out to the majority of Android devices out there, but it looks like anticipation of what Android 5.0 could bring to the table is too much to bear as reports surrounding the next-generation Android update have surfaced, this time it seems to be indicating that we could be seeing the next iteration of Android see a launch in June during Google’s I/O event.

As much and as eager as we are to see what sort of changes Android 5.0 will offer up users, according to the data, it seems that about 1-2% of Android devices currently have Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices, at least in the official capacity, so to launch the next build of Android less than a year into its predecessor’s launch might cause quite a bit of problems, not to mention uproars from both users and manufacturers who might feel that things are moving a bit too fast.

In any case we will be taking this with a grain of salt for now and see what Google’s I/O event will bring. In the mean time, what do you guys think? Does a late June launch of Android 5.0 make sense to you?
