Interested in seeing what else Sony mobile has up their sleeves for us in 2012? Well you’re in luck as the company has recently announced the Sony Xperia P Android handset at MWC. The Xperia P will be part of Sony’s NXT series of Android phones that includes the Xperia S and the Xperia U, and will be sporting a minimalist design with a precision crafted aluminum body.

It will also come with a 4” display that is powered by Sony’s WhiteMagic technology. This allows for clear and bright viewing even under bright sunlight, and according to Sony will be able to deliver double the level of brightness compared to other smartphones, but will not be a battery drain thanks to Sony’s battery management feature.

The Sony Xperia P will be powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 16GB of internal storage, an 8MP rear-facing Exmor-R camera that can capture 1080p Full HD videos, and will include NFC support that will be compatible with Xperia SmartTags. This allows the user to tap their phone against the SmartTags which will then launch a series of actions/commands at once, saving the user time from having to launch apps or tools one by one.

Unfortunately the Sony Xperia P will come with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, but fret not as there are plans to bring it up to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the future. No word on pricing, but the device will be rolling out in Q2 of 2012.
