Wondering what all the fuss about Panasonic Android phones are over in Japan? Well the good news is that if you live in Europe, you will be lucky enough to get your hands on the Panasonic Eluga which will be the company’s first foray into the European market as far as Android smartphones are concerned.

The device, much like their Japanese counterparts, is said to be both water and dustproof and is IP57 certified. For those who own Panasonic television sets, the Eluga will also be able to double up as a remote control for your TV as well. As far as the rest of its hardware is concerned, the Eluga will sport a 4.3” qHD display with a resolution of 960×540, a dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor under the hood with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

If that’s not enough for you, the Eluga will feature a microSD card slot for memory expansion of up to an additional 32GB. The phone will be shipped with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread on board but will be seeing an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in Spring of 2012. The device will also feature an “eco mode” which supposedly will put less strain on its 1,150mAh battery. It is expected to arrive in Europe this April, but no word on when it will be seeing a stateside release. [Product page]
