We know that Nokia has dropped Symbian in favor of Windows Phone and is expected to eventually phase it out in a transitional process through 2013. However a new rumor has emerged that seems to suggest that Nokia might be looking to drop Symbian a lot faster than they had originally intended. The rumors are suggesting that instead of a slew of new Symbian devices, only one model is expected to be released which will be the successor to the Nokia N8 and that every other project related to the Symbian OS has since been cancelled. Some are speculating that this might be due to Nokia shipping out less Symbian devices than expected, and with customers opting for iOS, Android and even holding out for Nokia’s Lumia handsets as opposed to their Symbian counterparts. What do you guys think? Will Symbian truly be missed or has iOS, Android and even Windows Phone managed to overshadow the Finnish company’s smartphone efforts?
